Mark West became the Executive Director of the Louisiana Association of Tax Administrators (LATA) after his 27-year career as the Administrator of the Ascension Parish Sales and Use Tax Authority. While with the Authority, Mark was an active member of LATA where he served as President in 1999 and 2012 He also actively participated on many LATA committees such as the Legislative Committee and the Local Audit Committee. Before his employment with the Authority, Mark worked for the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) in various sales tax offices.

During his career, he assisted in the development and passing of the Uniform Local Sales Tax Code in 2003, and served as the first Chairman of the Uniform Local Return and Remittance Advisory Committee which developed the Parish E-File System. Mark was also instrumental in the passage of Act 274 of 2017 which created both the Louisiana Uniform Local Sales Tax Board & the Louisiana Commission for Remote Sellers. In a partnership with the LDR and LATA, he attended 13 Streamlined Sales Tax Project meetings around the country.

Mark is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana with a BS in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive status). He and his wife Denise have two adult children.
